Independence police charge man wanted for criminal mischief

INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – The Independence Township Police Department charged a 64-year-old man last month who was wanted for criminal mischief, police said Tuesday.

On Friday, March 1 officers responded to Nykun’s Store, located at 331 Route 46, for an act of criminal mischief against a vehicle, police said.

On location, officers found that a patron’s vehicle had been intentionally damaged after a verbal altercation in the parking lot. Video surveillance confirmed that the damage was done intentionally, police said.

A picture of the wanted person was posted on social media and with the help of the community, they were able to identify the suspect as Frank Verga of Mansfield Township.

Verga was brought in for questioning where he allegedly admitted to inflicting damage on the victim’s vehicle, police said.

Verga was charged with criminal mischief and released with a summons, police said.
