Man charged after trying to enter vehicles in Sussex County town

FRANKLIN BOROUGH, NJ (Sussex County) – A 24-year-old  Passaic County man was charged last month after attempting to enter vehicles in Franklin Borough.

On July 31, police received a complaint about a male suspect entering private properties without authorization and attempting to enter vehicles and a motor home in the area of Hilltop Lane, and High Point Circle, officials said.

Officers located and detained an individual matching the suspect’s description. Initially, the male provided a false identity but was later identified as Rey Valladares of Paterson. It was also discovered that he had an outstanding warrant from the City of Passaic, police said.

Valladares was charged with fourth-degree obstruction of justice, fourth-degree hindering apprehension, criminal trespass and disorderly conduct.

Due to a medical condition that arose while in custody, Valladares was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and care. He was released on the charges pending a court appearance, police said.
