Man charged with threats, assault after school bus incident in Somerset County
RARITAN BOROUGH, N.J. (Somerset County) — A Raritan man has been arrested and charged with multiple offenses following a May incident in which he allegedly threatened and attempted to assault students getting off a school bus.
Jeremy Booker, 39, was charged on June 24 with terroristic threats, harassment, simple assault, and disorderly conduct, according to Raritan Borough police.
The charges stem from a May 13 incident where Booker allegedly confronted a group of students over an issue involving his daughter. During the confrontation, Booker reportedly threatened several students and attempted to strike one. The encounter was captured on the school bus’s surveillance camera, authorities said.
Following the investigation, a warrant was issued for Booker’s arrest. During the course of the case, police were notified by the Pennsylvania State Board of Parole that Booker had violated parole terms related to a prior homicide conviction. A detainer warrant was issued as a result.
On July 7, Booker was taken into custody by the Somerville Police Department during a traffic stop and was lodged in the Somerset County Jail.
