
Man pleads guilty to stealing motorcycle, eluding police in Sussex County
NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County) – A Bergen County man has pled guilty to stealing a motorcycle and eluding police on foot in Sussex County, according to Acting Sussex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray.
Armani Stewart, 24, of Westwood, pled guilty to second-degree theft and third-degree resisting arrest by flight on May 7 before the Honorable Michael C. Gaus, J.S.C. at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton, Murray said.
Stewart admitted to knowingly stealing a motorcycle from the victim’s residence and attempting to elude the police on foot after having received signal to bring his vehicle to a full stop, Murray said.
He is scheduled to be sentenced on June 20.
Stewart was represented by Matthew W. Young, Esq. and the State was represented by Special Deputy Attorney General and Acting Assistant Prosecutor Brent M. Rafuse.
