
Morris County high school teacher accused of sexual assault of student
PEQUANNOCK TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A Pequannock High School teacher has been charged with multiple counts of sexual assault, official misconduct, and related offenses involving a student, authorities announced.
Morris County Prosecutor Robert Carroll, Chief of Detectives Robert McNally, and Pequannock Police Chief Daniel Comune said William Arnold, 53, of Wayne, was charged following an investigation into allegations of inappropriate behavior.
Investigators determined that on multiple occasions over the previous year, Arnold sexually assaulted the victim, who was 15 and 16 years old at the time, while serving as the student’s teacher. He has been suspended by the school district.
Arnold was charged on Sept. 29, 2025, with first-degree aggravated sexual assault, second-degree sexual assault, second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, second-degree official misconduct, and fourth-degree criminal sexual contact.
He is currently being held at the Morris County Correctional Facility under the state’s Criminal Justice Reform Act pending court proceedings.
“The investigation remains ongoing, and no further information will be released at this time,” authorities said.
The Pequannock Police Department and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Sex Crimes/Child Endangerment Unit are continuing to investigate.
