
Morris County law enforcement issues statement on recent drone activity
MORRIS COUNTY, NJ – Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll, Chief of Detectives Robert McNally, Morris County Sheriff James M. Gannon, Morris Plains Police Chief and President of the Morris County Police Chiefs’ Association Michael Koroski, and the Morris County Office of Emergency Management have issued a joint public statement regarding recent drone activity observed in the county.
On the evening of Monday, November 18, law enforcement officers on patrol in Morris County observed unusual drone activity.
Authorities from the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, Morris County Sheriff’s Office, the Morris County Office of Emergency Management, municipal police departments, and both federal and state law enforcement agencies are aware of the incident. The agencies are coordinating efforts to monitor and investigate the situation.
At this time, there is no indication that the drone activity poses any threat to public safety.
This statement has been issued in response to misinformation circulating on social media regarding the activity. Authorities urge the public to be cautious about the accuracy of information they encounter online.
“The FAA received reports of drone activity near Morris County, New Jersey, on Monday, Nov. 18. The FAA looked into the reports and did not find evidence of drone activity in the area. The agency shared the information about the reports with federal security partners,” the Federal Aviation Administration told RNJ.
