Morris County sheriff’s Office dive team assists Montville police in vehicle recovery over July 4 weekend

MONTVILLE TONWSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — The Morris County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Services Unit assisted the Montville Police Department over the July 4 weekend in recovering a vehicle that had entered a retention pond.

Initial reports indicated all occupants were safely out of the vehicle. Sheriff’s Officer Ryan Wood and Corporal Ivan Bajceski responded to support the recovery operation and conduct a search of the pond area.

Officers deployed a DeepTrekker Remote Operated Vehicle (ROV) to locate the submerged vehicle and scan for any additional hazards. The vehicle was identified using sonar, with no other concerns found.

The ROV guided a diver from Parsippany Rescue and Recovery to the vehicle’s rear wheel, where a tow strap was attached. The vehicle was successfully removed from the water without incident.
