Morristown High School seniors complete advanced manufacturing program at CCM
RANDOLPH TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — Fifteen Morristown High School seniors have completed the Advanced Integrated Manufacturing Technologies program at County College of Morris, giving students a pathway into advanced manufacturing careers.
The program, known as AIMTec, is offered through a partnership between County College of Morris and Morristown High School. It combines classroom instruction, hands-on technical training and industry-recognized certifications.
Students completed the yearlong program at CCM’s Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering Center, where they developed skills in machining, CNC operation and programming, robotics and other advanced manufacturing technologies. Students also gained professional and workplace readiness experience.
Before completing the program, each student was eligible to choose a specialized elective in pneumatics, hydraulics or welding.
All students earned at least six industry-recognized certifications. After graduating from high school, they are prepared to enroll in an associate degree program at CCM for additional career training in engineering.
The students also are prepared to enter the workforce. According to CCM, eight manufacturing companies have visited the college to conduct first-round interviews for job placement, and more than 30 second-round interviews have been scheduled.
“The success of AIMTec continues to show what is possible when partners create meaningful career pathways together,” said Patrick Enright, Senior Vice President, Academic Affairs, Workforce Development and Student Success at CCM. “In just two years, we have watched dozens of students from Morristown High School gain confidence, develop highly sought-after technical skills and connect directly with employers who are eager to hire the next generation of manufacturing professionals. The growing number of employment opportunities available to our students is a testament to both their hard work and the strength of our partnerships.”
CCM and Morristown High School plan to continue the AIMTec partnership this fall with a new cohort of students.
“As we enter our second year of partnership, we are excited by the positive response from our students and are proud to see them fully engage in the experience from start to finish,” said Sophia Kenny, Director of Guidance & Program Development at Morristown High School. “Our students have embraced the opportunity to explore new possibilities and gain valuable exposure to post–high school pathways. The professors have been nothing short of amazing, meeting students where they are, recognizing their strengths and helping them discover untapped potential they may not have known they possessed. We look forward to continuing this partnership, welcoming future cohorts and creating even more meaningful and enjoyable experiences together.”
During the completion ceremony, college and school officials thanked families, faculty, staff and employer partners for supporting the program.
CCM’s Center for Workforce Development offers programs designed to help students learn new skills and improve their marketability in a changing job market.
