Motorcyclist airlifted after crash with car on Route 517 in Hunterdon County

TEWKSBURY TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — A motorcyclist was airlifted to Morristown Medical Center following a crash involving a passenger vehicle on Route 517 in Tewksbury Township late Sunday morning, officials said.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene at 11:17 a.m., according to Tewksbury Rescue. Responding units included Tewksbury Township Police, Tewksbury Rescue, paramedics from Hunterdon Medical Center, and the Oldwick Fire Company. An officer from Whitehouse Rescue Squad in Readington, who happened to be passing by at the time of the crash, also assisted with patient care.

Firefighters from Oldwick Fire Company, supported by the Readington Township Police Department, secured the scene, managed emergency vehicles, and helped transport the patient to a landing zone at Old Turnpike School.

The Fairmount Fire Company No. 1 of Long Valley established the landing zone. The patient was ultimately flown to Morristown Medical Center.

The Tewksbury Township and Lebanon Township police departments are conducting a joint investigation into the cause of the crash. The Tewksbury Township Department of Public Works responded on a Sunday to place barricades and close the roadway as needed.

No further information on the condition of the motorcyclist was immediately available.
