WEST TRENTON, N.J. (Mercer County) — The New Jersey State Police held their annual Survivors of the Triangle Memorial Ceremony on Friday, honoring troopers who died in the line of duty.
Lt. Gov. Dale G. Caldwell and Attorney General Jennifer Davenport joined Acting Superintendent Col. Jeanne Hengemuhle, Survivors of the Triangle Vice President Michelle Carroll and members of the State Police community at Division Headquarters for the ceremony.
This year’s event recognized four troopers: Sgt. First Class William A. Casey, Lt. Peter F. Bruncati, Sgt. First Class Steven C. Tiboni and Staff Sgt. Lee E. Hendrickson.
Officials said all four died as a result of illnesses contracted while serving in response to the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. Casey died in August 2022, Bruncati in June 2023, Tiboni in December 2024 and Hendrickson in March 2025.
During the ceremony, family members and friends joined Hengemuhle in dedicating four trees in Dogwood Grove, a memorial garden honoring fallen troopers.
The annual ceremony is held in partnership with Survivors of the Triangle, an organization that supports the families of New Jersey State Police members who have died in the line of duty.
