New VFW post established in Knowlton Township, honors fallen Blairstown soldier

KNOWLTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Warren County) — Warren County officials joined local veterans Saturday to mark the establishment of a new Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Knowlton Township.

Officers of the Ronald Wildrick Jr. VFW Post 12246 were sworn in during an installation ceremony held Jan. 3. Warren County Commissioner Director Lori Ciesla attended the event, thanking members for their service and expressing her support for the new post and its role in the community.

Post 12246 is named in honor of Army Specialist Ronald Wildrick Jr., a Blairstown resident who was killed in Afghanistan on Dec. 11, 2011.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars is a nonprofit veterans service organization made up of eligible veterans and military service members. The organization’s mission is to foster camaraderie among veterans of overseas conflicts, advocate on behalf of all veterans, and serve veterans, the military and local communities.
