NJ TRANSIT renames Meadowlands Rail Line under DoorDash sponsorship ahead of World Cup
SECAUCUS, N.J. (Hudson County) — NJ TRANSIT has announced a one-year sponsorship agreement with DoorDash that includes renaming the Meadowlands Rail Line as the DoorDash Meadowlands Rail Line ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The partnership is expected to provide national, regional and statewide brand exposure as NJ TRANSIT prepares to carry more than 300,000 World Cup fans to and from New Jersey matches, along with hundreds of thousands of additional riders traveling to stadium events throughout the year.
“This significant sponsorship with DoorDash is exactly the kind of non-farebox revenue strategy that Governor Sherrill directed us to execute — one that generates real value for those choosing NJ TRANSIT to travel to the eight World Cup matches without passing additional costs on to everyday commuters,” said NJ TRANSIT President & CEO Kris Kolluri. “DoorDash’s investment ensures that hundreds of thousands of World Cup fans coming through New Jersey will do so on a transit system that’s well-resourced and ready to deliver.”
The agreement will last one year, with an option to extend it for additional years.
“DoorDash is in New Jersey communities every single day,” said Katherine Rodriguez, Head of East Public Policy at DoorDash. “When Governor Sherrill challenged the private sector to show up for this state, we wanted to be the company that answered. We’re proud to help make sure this train runs, and that it runs for New Jerseyans.”
During the World Cup, NJ TRANSIT customers will see DoorDash branding on two locomotives operating on the DoorDash Meadowlands Rail Line during matches. The branding also will appear on NJ TRANSIT World Cup digital tickets in the agency’s mobile app, directional signs at Secaucus Junction and NJ TRANSIT’s Countdown Clock to the World Cup.
After the tournament, the partnership will expand to include five wrapped buses across North Jersey, promotional activations at Secaucus Junction, branding on official NJ TRANSIT rail line maps and other systemwide branding efforts.
NJ TRANSIT said the sponsorship is part of an effort to generate non-farebox revenue while supporting transportation operations for major stadium events.
