NJ Transit train strikes vehicle in Morris County

NETCONG BOROUGH, NJ (Morris County) – A vehicle was struck by a NJ Transit train in Netcong Borough Wednesday afternoon, according to NJ Transit.

At approximately 4:01 p.m., Morris & Essex Line Train 877, which had departed Hoboken at 2:27 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Hackettstown at 4:23 p.m., struck a vehicle at the Main Street crossing, adjacent to the Netcong Train Station, authorities said.

The two occupants of the vehicle had exited before the impact but were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.

There were no reported injuries to the 15 customers and crew on board, authorities said.

Morris & Essex Line rail service has resumed in both directions between Lake Hopatcong and Hackettstown.

New Jersey Transit Police are leading the investigation.
