Old York Cellars to host Halloween screening of Terroir, dog parade

RINGOES, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — Old York Cellars will turn its vineyard into a Halloween celebration of film, wine, and four-legged fun.

The Ringoes winery will host complimentary screenings of TERROIR, a darkly funny short film shot in New Jersey, on Friday, Oct. 31, accompanied by live music, themed wine cocktails, and wine-and-candy pairings curated by Mr. Pops of Flemington.

Filmed entirely in New Jersey, TERROIR follows a young wine critic, played by Madison Hu, who returns to a vineyard she once reviewed harshly — only to uncover terrifying secrets buried in the soil. The short was written, produced, and directed by Casey Rogerson, a Bucks County native and graduate of The Lawrenceville School in Mercer County.

Screenings will be held in the winery’s heated vineyard tent at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m., with live music from 6 to 9 p.m. The film has drawn early buzz for its lush cinematography and slow-building tension, blending the refinement of winemaking with dark satire.

On Sunday, Nov. 2, Old York Cellars will host its first Howl-O-Wine Dog Costume Parade, inviting guests and their pets to show off creative costumes. Guests in costume will receive half-priced wine tastings. The parade, organizers say, underscores the winery’s commitment to community, creativity, and fun.

Throughout the Hallo-Wine Weekend, guests 21 and older can enjoy special cocktails, themed pairings, and half-priced tastings for anyone in costume. Chef José will serve a full Spanish-inspired menu, including his five-course wine-pairing menu and 14-course “Oma Casa” tapas pairing by reservation.

“We love celebrating New Jersey creativity — from local winemaking to film and art,” said David Wolin, owner of Old York Cellars. “Hosting a film shot right here in New Jersey alongside our first Howl-O-Wine Parade brings together everything we stand for: community, creativity, and a little fun — because good wine deserves a good story.”

The Hallo-Wine Weekend begins Thursday, Oct. 30, with Halloween Trivia Night and continues through the weekend with Chef José’s signature dinners, live music, and seasonal specials.
