One seriously injured following crash on I-80 in Morris County

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – One person was seriously injured following crash on Interstate 80 in Morris County Monday afternoon, according to New Jersey State Police spokesperson Sergeant Charles Marchan.

The crash happened at around 4:33 p.m. on Interstate 80 westbound at milepost 25 in Mount Olive Township, Marchan said.

A preliminary police investigation revealed that a Hyundai SUV was traveling west on I-80 and a Ford SUV was traveling on the ramp from Route 206 south to I-80 when the Hyundai struck the curb on the right shoulder, traveled over a concrete median and struck the Ford, Marchan said.

As a result of the collision the Ford was redirected off the right side of the road and struck a guardrail. The Hyundai overturned and impacted a guardrail off the right shoulder, Marchan said.

As a result of the crash a passenger in the Hyundai suffered serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital, Marchan said.

No further information was released.
