Paris helps rescue runaway Brodi in a heartwarming story of friendship with both dogs awaiting forever homes

FLANDERS, NJ (Morris County) – A heartwarming story of unexpected friendship helped save the life of Brodi, a small, scared brown dog, who bolted from his foster home just hours after arriving on Monday.

Brodi, a small, frightened dog, went into foster care, but within hours, his fear got the better of him, and he bolted from the house into an area dangerously close to busy highways, including Route 80 and Route 46.

Disoriented and terrified, Brodi darted away from rescuers who attempted to catch him, making the situation even more dire. Despite two sightings of Brodi, he remained too skittish to approach, and with speeding traffic just nearby, there were serious concerns for his safety.

The next day, Tuesday, a volunteer tried a new tactic. A volunteer brought Paris, a cheerful black dog who had been Brodi’s kennel neighbor for the past week. Though Paris’s energetic, outgoing personality was a stark contrast to Brodi’s nervousness, the hope was that Paris’s familiar scent and presence might draw him out.

The volunteer took Paris to the woods where Brodi had last been seen and began to play loudly and enthusiastically with her, calling out in a way that might attract Brodi. Miraculously, it worked! Brodi emerged from the woods, tail wagging for the first time in hours, and rushed toward Paris. It was clear that Brodi felt comforted by her presence, and the volunteer was able to grab his collar, bringing him safely back.

This bond between the two dogs may have quite literally saved Brodi’s life. Both Brodi and Paris are now safe and still waiting for their forever homes—and there’s hope that they may even find a home together. Paris, the hero of the day, showed that sometimes friendship is all it takes to turn a frightening situation into a heartwarming story of rescue and connection.
