
Passenger charged with drug, weapons offenses after New Year’s Day traffic stop in Morris County
DENVILLE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A Morris Plains man was charged with multiple drug- and weapons-related offenses following a motor vehicle stop in Denville on New Year’s Day, police said.
Denville police said officers conducted a traffic stop at about 7:45 p.m. Jan. 1 on Route 10 eastbound for equipment violations. During the investigation, officers determined that a passenger in the vehicle, later identified as Eugenio Carmona, 48, allegedly provided false identifying information.
Police said Carmona was found to have multiple outstanding warrants, including NCIC warrants issued by the Morris County Sheriff’s Office and the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office, as well as ATS warrants totaling $9,500 from Parsippany, Woodland Park, Hanover Township and Totowa municipal courts.
As the investigation continued, officers allegedly found Carmona in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, drug paraphernalia and a weapon possessed for an unlawful purpose, police said.
Carmona was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and hindering apprehension.
He was taken into custody, processed and transported to the Morris County Correctional Facility pending a future court appearance, police said.
