Pedestrian struck by minivan, seriously injured in Sussex County

VERNON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) – A pedestrian was struck and seriously injured by a minivan Monday afternoon in Sussex County.

The crash happened at 12:24 p.m. on Augusta Drive in the Great Gorge Condos section of Vernon Township, police said.

According to police, a Blue Minivan, operated by a 30-year-old male of Wallington, NJ, had struck a 69-year-old Vernon Township man who had been walking on Augusta Drive, police said.

Officers and emergency medical workers performed life saving measures on the pedestrian, who suffered serious injuries, and was then flown to Morristown Medical Center, police said.

The driver of the minivan was transported to Newton Medical Center for a medical evaluation, police said.

The Sussex County Car Accident Reconstruction Team responded to the scene to assist with the investigation.

“The case remains open and charges are pending,” police said.
