Police: Man charged with driving wrong way on Route 46 in Morris County while intoxicated

MOUNTAIN LAKES BOROUGH, NJ (Morris County) – A Morris County man charged with driving while intoxicated after he was accused of going the wrong way on Route 46 in Mountain Lakes Borough, police said in a release this week.

On March 5, at around 11:49 p.m., an officer was conducting a routine check of the businesses along Route 46 West, when he observed a vehicle approaching him head-on, traveling in the wrong direction of Route 46 West, police said.

The officer then initiated his overhead lights and sirens to bring the vehicle to a stop. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the driver, who was identified as Iganacio Cervantes-Maceda, 38, of Denville Township, for driving while intoxicated, police said.

Cervantes-Maceda was issued motor vehicle summonses for driving while intoxicated, driving while suspended, improper turns, delaying traffic, driving without a license, careless driving, reckless driving, and wrong way in a one way. He was then released pending a court appearance, police said.
