Randolph police warn residents of scam calls posing as ICE officials

RANDOLPH TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – The Randolph Police Department is warning residents about a phone scam where an unidentified individual claims to be from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Several residents have reported receiving these calls, which appear to come from the Randolph Police Department’s phone number due to caller ID spoofing.

The scammer reportedly asked residents to release personal information related to their bank accounts, attempting to exploit their trust by falsely claiming to be from ICE.

The Randolph Police Department has issued a statement clarifying that they will never contact residents unsolicited to request sensitive information, such as personal or financial details.

If you have received one of these phone calls and are concerned about its legitimacy, the Randolph Police urge you to contact their non-emergency number at 973-989-7000, where you can speak directly with an officer for verification.

Residents are reminded to be cautious when receiving unsolicited calls requesting personal or financial information and to report any suspicious activity.
