Sheriff Brown invites public to Hunterdon County 9/11 remembrance ceremony

FLEMINGTON, NJ (Hunterdon County) – Members of the law enforcement and first responder communities will join county officials at Hunterdon County’s annual 9/11 Remembrance ceremony, scheduled for 8:15 a.m. on Sept. 11 on the steps of the Hunterdon County Justice Center at the corner of Capner Street and Park Avenue in Flemington.

Sheriff Brown, who re-initiated the 9/11 remembrance event in 2017 and has led the ceremonies in Hunterdon County every year since then, said, “This annual commemoration which honors all those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, especially the sixteen residents from Hunterdon County who perished that day, is too significant not to be continued. As a community, it’s crucial that we unite to honor this solemn day, ensuring that no one is ever forgotten.”

“Each year we remember those who perished in the attacks of September 11th, 2001; those lost at the World Trade Center, including close to 400 first responders and law enforcement officers, those killed in the Pentagon attack, the heroes on United Airlines Flight 93, and those innocent passengers aboard American Airlines Flights 11 and 77, and United Airlines Flight 175. It is vital that they be remembered,” Brown said.

“It is also essential that we recall the events of September 11th, where terrorist attacks claimed the lives of thousands. These attacks were perpetrated by enemies of our nation, our values, our freedoms, and our way of life. This ceremony takes place to ensure that neither time, nor revisionist history alters those facts,” Brown said.
