Smoke from Murray Hill wildfire may be visible to visitors at Worthington State Forest

WORTHINGTON STATE FOREST, NJ – Visitors and campers at Worthington State Forest may notice smoke in the area Friday due to the ongoing Murray Hill wildfire burning across the Delaware River in Pennsylvania.

As firefighting services in Pennsylvania work to combat the blaze, residents may also hear sirens as emergency personnel respond to the situation.

Officials are urging caution, reminding everyone of the current Red Flag Warning in New Jersey and Stage 3 fire restrictions. With abnormally hot temperatures and dry, windy conditions predicted for Friday, outdoor enthusiasts are advised to avoid any wood or charcoal fires.

However, the use of elevated propane or electric camp stoves remains permitted.
