Sussex County Community College professor honored with 2025 L.E.A.D.er of the Year Award
NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County) – Sussex County Community College Criminal Justice Coordinator Dawn Flanders, a Master Trainer for the National Law Enforcement Against Drugs and Violence (L.E.A.D.) program, has been honored with the prestigious 2025 LEADer of the Year Award.
The announcement was made by the L.E.A.D. Board of Directors during the organization’s National Convention held in Atlantic City on March 31, 2025.
This national award recognizes Flanders’ exceptional dedication to L.E.A.D.’s mission of preventing drug use, violence, and bullying through education and community engagement. As a Master Trainer, she has been instrumental in delivering training programs across the United States, equipping law enforcement officers with the tools and strategies to educate and protect youth in their communities.
“It is an incredible honor to receive this recognition,” said Flanders. “Being part of L.E.A.D. and helping law enforcement officers make a difference in the lives of young people has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career.”
L.E.A.D. is a nonprofit organization that partners with communities to help students understand the dangers of drugs and violence while promoting safe, healthy choices. The LEADer of the Year Award is presented annually to an individual who demonstrates exceptional leadership and dedication to advancing the organization’s core values and expanding its impact nationwide.
