Sussex County man pleads guilty to stalking

NEWTON, NJ (Sussex County) – A Sussex County man has entered a guilty plea to stalking, according to Acting Sussex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray

Thomas Scott, 36, of Hamburg Borough, pled guilty to fourth-degree stalking on Jan. 3 before the Honorable Michael C. Gaus, J.S.C. at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton, Murray said.

In pleading guilty, Scott did knowingly engage in a course of conduct directed at the victim which caused her to fear for her safety and cause emotional distress, Murray said.

Scott is scheduled to be sentenced on March 24.

The case was investigated by Patrolman Macarico of the Hopatcong Borough Police Department.

Scott was represented by Peter Gilbreth, Esq., and the State was represented by Special Deputy Attorney General and Acting Assistant Prosecutor Vanessa Henderson.
