Volunteers sought for 2026 Lake Hopatcong Block Party

LANDING, N.J. (Morris County) — The Lake Hopatcong Foundation is seeking volunteers for its annual Block Party, set for Saturday, May 16, at Hopatcong State Park.

The event, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., is expected to draw thousands of visitors to the lakefront for a day of live entertainment, food, shopping and family-friendly activities.

“The Block Party continues to grow as a signature event for the lake region,” said Executive Director Kyle Richter. “It’s an opportunity to bring people together, highlight the organizations and businesses that make this area unique, and celebrate Lake Hopatcong as a shared resource.”

Organizers said volunteers are essential to the success of the event, assisting with tasks such as greeting visitors, helping vendors, directing parking and supporting event setup.

“We rely on volunteers to help create a positive and organized experience for everyone involved,” said Event Coordinator Kari Constantine. “It’s also a great way to spend the day outside, meet new people, and be part of an event that so many people look forward to each year.”

Volunteer shifts are typically four hours long and run between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., with additional help needed the day before the event for setup.

“There’s a real sense of energy and community at the Block Party,” said Volunteer Coordinator John Hanna. “Whether you’re helping behind the scenes or interacting with guests, you’re part of what makes the event enjoyable for everyone.”

Officials said the Block Party is one of the largest community events in the region and marks the unofficial start of summer at Lake Hopatcong.

Those interested in volunteering can sign up online and attend a required training session scheduled for May 14, where participants will also receive a volunteer T-shirt.
