Warren County Hot Air Balloons, Fun & Games Festival launches this weekend

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Warren County) — The skies over Warren County will be filled with color next weekend as the Warren County Hot Air Balloons, Fun & Games Festival returns to Warren Community College.

The two-day event will take place Saturday, Sept. 20, and Sunday, Sept. 21, from 1 to 8:30 p.m. on the college campus along Route 57 in Washington. Proceeds will support the Warren Community College Foundation, the Fred Grotenhuis Memorial Scholarships, and the Fred T. Grotenhuis Veterans Community Center.

Festivalgoers can enjoy tethered balloon rides, balloon inflations and launches, food trucks, live music, children’s activities, and craft and informational vendors. Balloon rides are tentatively scheduled for 4 p.m. each day, with inflations and launches around 5:15 p.m., followed by a “meet the pilots” event. A balloon glow is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., featuring the American One US flag balloon.

Entertainment will include jugglers, clowns, strolling musicians, and a variety of bands, including StoneHearth Bluegrass Band and TimeWhys. Kids can also meet Spot the “dog” robot and enjoy trick-or-treating with Fred G. Monster on Saturday and Sunday at 7:15 p.m.

Other attractions include a car and truck show from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and performances by dulcimers and a barbershop quartet.

Admission is $12 for adults and $10 for children ages 4-12 if purchased online by Sept. 18. Parking is $5. Tickets and a full schedule are available at BalloonFestNJ.com.
