Warren County woman charged with stealing nearly $4K from employer

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A Hackettstown woman is accused of cashing checks from her Morris County employer.

On May 10, at 1:50 p.m., an officer responded to Johnson Dodge, located at at 481 Route 46 in Mount Olive Township, for the report of fraud, police said.

When an officer arrived, police spoke with the victim who reported that an employee, who was identified as Leigha Conklin-Arnott, 18, had endorsed and cashed a check to herself in the amount of $165.00 while working at Johnson Cadillac, authorities said.

Through a further police investigation, it was determined that a total of 16 checks were cashed between May 10, 2024, and June 25, 2024, for an amount totaling $3,639.95. Conklin-Arnott was given an opportunity to make restitution to the victim and allegedly failed to do so, police said.

Conklin-Arnott was contacted on July 7 and she turned herself in to police. she was then arrest and charged with fraud and theft of movable property. She was released pending a court appearance, police said.
