
Woman charged with drug possession after traffic stop in Morris County
MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A Secaucus woman was charged with multiple drug offenses after police said they found suspected heroin and cocaine during a traffic stop late Thursday night in Mount Olive Township.
According to police, the stop occurred around 10:30 p.m. Oct. 2 when an officer on patrol observed a gray Chevrolet traveling east on Route 46 with a defective taillight. The officer conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of Netcong and spoke with the occupants of the vehicle.
During the investigation, a rear-seat passenger, identified as Sofia Elghazal, 38, of Secaucus, was allegedly found with a plastic bag containing two wax folds of suspected heroin, several folds with heroin residue, a crack pipe, and a rock believed to be cocaine.
Elghazal was arrested and taken to police headquarters, where she was charged with possession of CDS heroin, possession of CDS Schedule I–IV substances, and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.
She was released pending a court hearing.
