2 pedestrians struck in Jefferson Township hit-and-run; 1 seriously injured

JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A man was seriously injured and a woman sustained minor injuries after being struck by a vehicle Saturday night in Jefferson Township, police said.

According to Captain Robert Bush of the Jefferson Township Police Department, officers responded at approximately 9:47 p.m. to the area of 64 Brady Road in Lake Hopatcong for a report of two pedestrians struck by a motor vehicle.

Officers located the victims—a 43-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman—in the driveway of the residence. The man suffered serious injuries and was transported to Morristown Medical Center. The woman was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, reportedly operating a dark-colored SUV, fled the scene without stopping, police said.

The Jefferson Township Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Lundrim Veliu or Traffic Safety Officer Charles Paskas at 973-208-6154.

Jefferson Township police were assisted at the scene by the Jefferson Township Rescue Squad, Jefferson Township Fire Company #2, and the Morris County Sheriff’s Department.
