Drunken man arrested for firing shot that damaged neighbors property in Sussex County
FRANKLIN BOROUGH, NJ (Sussex County) – An intoxicated man was arrested last month after he allegedly fired a shot that damaged the neighbors property in Franklin Borough.
On July 27, police responded to a report of a firearm discharge on Corkhill Road causing property damage, officials said.
Officers determined that that Kevin R. Kaye, 52, of Franklin Borough, while intoxicated, had been handling a rifle at a residence on Cork Hill Road when it discharged, causing damage to a neighbor’s fence, above-ground pool, children’s clubhouse, and garage, police said.
“At the time of the incident, the residents and their children were in the yard and swimming pool,” police said.
Kaye was taken into custody at his residence on Main Street, where the rifle was also seized, police said.
He was charged with second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, third-degree possession of a weapon without a firearms ID card, third-degree endangering the welfare of others, fourth-degree criminal mischief, obstruction of justice and disorderly conduct.
Kaye was then lodged in the Morris County Correctional Facility pending a court appearance.
