
Man charged with drug offenses following traffic stop in Sussex County
FRANKLIN BOROUGH, N.J. (Sussex County) — A Hardyston man was arrested on May 1 following a motor vehicle stop that led to drug-related charges, according to the Franklin Borough Police Department.
An officer conducted the stop during the morning hours and initiated an investigation that revealed the driver, Thomas Wirf, 43, was allegedly in possession of cocaine. Authorities said Wirf failed to surrender the controlled substance during the encounter.
Wirf was taken into custody and charged with third-degree possession of a Schedule I-IV controlled dangerous substance and failure to make lawful disposition of a controlled dangerous substance, a disorderly persons offense.
He was issued a criminal complaint summons along with several motor vehicle summonses and released pending an appearance in Sussex County Superior Court in accordance with the New Jersey Bail Reform Act.
