Plane crashes at Passaic County airport; no injuries reported, officials say
WEST MILFORD TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Passaic County) — A small plane crashed at the end of the runway at Greenwood Lake Airport late Monday morning, according to the West Milford Office of Emergency Management.
Emergency crews responded around 10:50 a.m. after reports of a plane down, officials said. The West Milford Fire Department, West Milford Police Department, West Milford First Aid Squad, and Office of Emergency Management all responded to the scene.
The first arriving unit, 803, confirmed a plane down with no injuries, though the aircraft was leaking fuel, officials said. The fuel leak was quickly contained, and the plane’s occupants were evaluated by the First Aid Squad.
Emergency personnel offloaded the remaining fuel from the plane before it was removed from the runway. The airport reopened about an hour later, according to officials.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating the crash. FAA records show the Cessna is registered to AA-AERO INC, based in Fairfield, N.J.
