Boil water advisory extended in Allamuchy Township after second water main break
ALLAMUCHY TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Warren County) — A boil water advisory remains in effect for Allamuchy Township after a second water main break Friday on Purple Martin Drive left residents in the Village IV section of Panther Valley without water, township officials said.
The Allamuchy Water and Sewer Department said the break has affected customers along several streets, including Barn Owl Drive, Bob White, Canada Goose Drive, Green Heron Drive, Grosbeak Drive, Meadowlark Drive, Mourning Dove Court, Mourning Dove Terrace, Oriole Drive, Purple Martin Drive, Raven Drive, Ruffed Grouse, Whippoorwill Drive, Duck Hawk Court, Great Horned Owl, and Wood Duck Court.
Officials said repairs are underway and water service is expected to be restored by Saturday morning. Once service resumes, residents are advised to run cold water for several minutes to clear the lines.
As a precaution, the township issued a systemwide boil water advisory, which remains in effect until testing confirms that the water supply is safe. Residents are instructed to boil tap water for one minute before using it for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, or washing dishes, or to use bottled water.
“Please continue to boil your water or use bottled water until you are notified that the water quality is satisfactory,” township officials said in a statement.
The township also provided several safety recommendations, including discarding any uncooked food or ice made with tap water during the advisory and providing pets with boiled or bottled water.
Friday’s break comes just one day after a separate water main break on Alphano Road and Freeborn Lane, which left many residents without water. The Allamuchy Township Office of Emergency Management said Thursday that water service had been restored following that incident.
