Boil water advisory lifted for Allamuchy Township after three water main breaks
ALLAMUCHY TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Warren County) — The Allamuchy Township Water & Sewer Utility has lifted the boil water advisory that had been in effect after three separate water main breaks affected customers across different areas of the township.
The advisory was first issued Nov. 6 following a water main break at Alphano Road and Freeborn Lane, which left many residents without water service. A second break occurred shortly after on Purple Martin Drive in the Panther Valley section, extending the advisory while crews made repairs and conducted water-quality testing.
Then on Saturday morning, a third break on Mallard Drive forced the temporary closure of the road between Egret Glen and Bald Eagle near the front gate of Panther Valley. Crews have since completed repairs, and officials confirmed that Mallard Drive has reopened and all leaks have been repaired.
“We are pleased to report that the repairs have been completed and subsequent water quality testing shows the water quality to be safe,” township officials said in a statement. “The boil water advisory is lifted and it is no longer necessary to boil your water before using.”
Residents are encouraged to run cold water for three to five minutes to flush interior plumbing, clean ice makers and water chillers, drain and refill water heaters set below 113°F, and run regeneration cycles on water softeners or cartridge filters.
Mayor Rosemary Tuohy thanked residents for their patience during the repairs.
