New Jersey Lottery to launch “Millionaire for Life” Feb. 22, retire Cash 4 Life game

TRENTON, N.J. — The New Jersey Lottery will debut a new daily draw game, “Millionaire for Life,” on Feb. 22, replacing the multistate “Cash 4 Life” game and expanding the player pool in a move lottery officials say will offer larger prizes.

The lottery said it will launch the game in collaboration with 31 other states and Washington, D.C. The top prize is $1 million a year for life, with a cash option of $18 million, and the second prize is $100,000 a year for life, with a cash option of $2.2 million, the lottery said. Tickets will cost $5 per play, with nine prize tiers and overall odds of 1 in 8.47 to win any prize, according to the announcement.

The final Cash 4 Life drawing is scheduled for Feb. 21, the lottery said. It noted that advance multi-draw tickets for Cash 4 Life will be limited on a rolling schedule ahead of the game’s retirement, including Jan. 25 as the last day players can purchase the maximum of 28 plays.

Lottery officials said Cash 4 Life was played in New Jersey with eight other states, while “Lucky for Life” involved 20 states and Washington, D.C. The new game will consolidate participation into a single offering, the lottery said.

“We are excited to offer our players an innovative and thrilling new game with ‘Millionaire for Life,'” said James Carey, Executive Director of the New Jersey Lottery. “Every time we speak to players, we hear that they want bigger prizes. This game not only provides incredible winning potential but also enhances the overall experience for our players.”

Under the game format described by lottery officials, drawings will be held daily, with ticket sales closing at 10:15 p.m. Eastern and drawings held after 11:15 p.m. Eastern. The game will use 58 regular balls and five bonus balls, with players winning prizes by matching combinations of the five drawn numbers and a bonus ball, the lottery said.
