Sussex County Commissioners join Newton St. Patrick’s Day Parade

NEWTON, N.J. (Sussex County) — Members of the Sussex County Board of County Commissioners participated in this year’s Sussex County St. Patrick’s Day Parade, joining residents and community groups for the annual celebration in Newton.

Deputy Director Jack DeGroot and Commissioners Chris Carney, Alan Henderson and David Silverthorne walked along Spring Street during the March 7 parade, which featured bagpipers, fire trucks and a variety of local organizations.

County officials said they were pleased to see the turnout of residents who gathered along the route on a brisk Saturday morning to celebrate the holiday.

The commissioners also thanked the Newton Fire Department, which sponsors the parade, along with the organizers who helped coordinate the event.

Officials additionally expressed appreciation for law enforcement officers and first responders who were present to help ensure a safe environment for parade participants and spectators.

The Sussex County Board of County Commissioners said it looks forward to next year’s celebration and extended wishes for a happy and safe St. Patrick’s Day to residents across the county.
