Hunterdon County hosts disability services expo highlighting accessibility, support

RARITAN TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — County officials and service providers gathered Saturday for the Hunterdon County Disability Services Expo, an event focused on improving access to resources for individuals with disabilities and their families.

Held April 11 at the Route 12 County Complex, the expo was organized by the Human Services Advisory Council and featured a wide range of service providers, community organizations and advocates.

Attendees had the opportunity to connect directly with local resources, ask questions and learn about available programs and services.

Commissioner Shaun C. Van Doren, liaison to the Department of Human Services, attended the event and met with residents, caregivers and providers.

“Events like the Disability Services Expo make it easier for individuals and families to navigate what can often feel like a complex system,” said Commissioner Van Doren. “Bringing services together in one place allows people to ask questions, build connections, and find the support they need.”

Van Doren also thanked the Department of Human Services and participating organizations for their continued efforts to support county residents.

“As a County, we are focused on ensuring our Human Services programs are accessible, responsive, and supportive of all residents,” Van Doren added. “Strengthening awareness and partnerships like those on display at this expo helps ensure no one feels alone in seeking support.”

Officials said the free event drew individuals, families and caregivers from across the region and underscored the county’s commitment to building a more inclusive community.

More information on available services and future events can be found through the Hunterdon County Division of Seniors, Disabilities and Veterans Services.
