Elizabethtown Gas to begin pipeline replacement project in part of Hackettstown next week

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Warren County) — Elizabethtown Gas is scheduled to begin a pipeline replacement project in Hackettstown on or about Monday, April 27, as part of efforts to improve the safety and reliability of its natural gas system.

The project will involve replacing aging gas mains with new plastic piping and, in some cases, relocating gas meters from inside homes and businesses to exterior locations. Officials said the upgrades are intended to enhance safety, improve emergency access and make maintenance more efficient.

Several streets across the town are expected to be directly affected by the work, including Arthur Terrace, Bells Lane, Herbert Lane, Janes Drive, Jay Court, Laurie Terrace, Lawrence Drive, Mitchell Road, Mountain Avenue, Seymour Place, Shelley Drive, Route 57, Victoria Lane, Victoria Village and Washington Street.

Crews will be working throughout the project area, and residents may experience temporary disruptions such as construction activity, limited access to roadways and brief service interruptions, according to the company. Efforts will be made to minimize impacts on residents and businesses.

Elizabethtown Gas said the work is part of a broader initiative to deliver safe, reliable and affordable natural gas service.
