Motorcyclist dies after hitting car, then gets hit by another on I-78 in Warren County

GREENWICH TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – A motorcyclist died following a crash on Interstate 78 in Warren County Tuesday night, according to New Jersey State Police spokesperson Sergeant Jeffrey Lebron.

The crash happened at around 10:04 p.m. on Interstate 78 eastbound at milepost 5.1 in Greenwich Township, Lebron said.

A preliminary police investigation revealed that a BMW motorcycle, operated by a 45-year-old man from Easton, PA, and a 2017 Toyota Camry were traveling east on I-78 when the motorcycle struck the rear of the Toyota, Lebron said.

As a result of the crash, the motorcyclist was ejected and suffered fatal injuries. A 2020 Toyota Camry then struck the man, Lebron said.

The driver of the 2017 Toyota Camry sustained minor injuries, Lebron said.

Police say the name of the man that died is not being released until next of kin has been notified.

The crash remains under investigation and no additional information was available.
