I-80 eastbound Exit 47A ramp closure set Friday night for bridge repairs in Parsippany-Troy Hills

PARSIPPANY-TROY HILLS, N.J. (Morris County) — Motorists traveling on Interstate 80 eastbound in Morris County should expect overnight closures and detours Friday as crews perform bridge repairs in Parsippany-Troy Hills, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation.

Beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, June 5, and continuing until 5 a.m. Saturday, June 6, the I-80 eastbound Express Exit 47A ramp to Interstate 280 eastbound and the I-80 eastbound local lanes will be closed for concrete deck repairs on the I-80 bridge over Route 46.

In addition, the left lane of the I-80 eastbound local lanes will be closed near milepost 46.3, just before the local Exit 47A ramp to I-280 eastbound.

NJDOT said the I-80 eastbound local Exit 47A ramp to I-280 eastbound will remain open during the work.

Under the detour, motorists traveling on the I-80 eastbound express lanes and seeking access to I-280 eastbound or the I-80 local lanes will be directed to take Exit 45 for Lake Hiawatha and Whippany before reaching Exit 47A. The detour will place drivers onto the I-80 eastbound local lanes, where they can continue to their destinations.

The repairs are part of a $12.3 million state-funded maintenance project addressing concrete structures in Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Sussex, Union and Warren counties.

According to NJDOT, the project is designed to improve roadway safety, enhance ride quality and extend the service life of transportation infrastructure throughout the region.

Officials noted that the schedule may change because of weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to visit 511NJ.org for real-time traffic updates and travel information.
