HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (Warren County) — Centenary University Tuesday announced a new partnership agreement with G C Foster College of Physical Education & Sport in Jamaica to collaborate on athletic-related certificate programs.

The first to be offered is a six-week certification, presented in-person and online, in track and field coaching beginning in April.

The College’s programs are designed for physical education teachers, athletes, and other specialists in recreation and sports.

The memorandum of understanding was signed on March 13 by Centenary University President Dale Caldwell, Ed.D., and G C Foster College of Physical Education & Sport Maurice Wilson, OD.

Dr. Caldwell said the agreement paves the way for further academic and athletic collaboration between the two institutions, as well as enriched cultural exchanges among students from both institutions.

“This unique partnership broadens Centenary University’s presence in international markets and creates extraordinary opportunities for students at both institutions,” said Centenary University President Dale Caldwell, Ed.D. “It also opens the door for potential new NCAA Division III athletic programs at Centenary, including men’s and women’s track and field.”

“The College is continuing on its pathway to developing the best of Jamaica with sport education as one of its core focuses. This partnership is a step in the right direction and we know the positive impact it will create. We are pleased that Centenary is on board with us and we welcome the broadening of our reach and scope of work,” Wilson said.

The partnership was facilitated by O’Neil Walters, managing director of PPIVOTT, which specializes in strategic brand identity and B2B partnership development services in sports, music, film, and media.

It includes a provision for Centenary and G C Foster College of Physical Education & Sport to expand certificate offerings that focus on other sports, such as tennis, as well as partner on in-person and online special events including conferences and symposiums.
