County College of Morris ranked No. 1 community college in New Jersey, study finds

RANDOLPH TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — County College of Morris has once again been named the top community college in New Jersey, according to SmartAsset’s 2025 study of the Best Community Colleges in the U.S.

Among 18 New Jersey community colleges evaluated, CCM earned the No. 1 spot based on key performance measures including full-time retention rate, student-to-faculty ratio and in-state tuition and fees. The recognition marks the ninth consecutive year the college has been ranked first in the state since 2016.

“We’re proud to once again be recognized as the #1 community college in New Jersey by yet another ranking agency,” said CCM President Dr. Anthony J. Iacono. “This recognition speaks to the exceptional quality education we provide, the dedication of our faculty, staff and Board of Trustees, and our collective and unwavering commitment to student success. We are growing strategically in all the right ways — expanding programs, building more state-of-the-art facilities, and helping more students than ever reach their academic and career goals without having to take on burdensome debt.”

CCM has consistently drawn praise from national evaluators. Payscale ranks the college No. 1 in New Jersey for salary potential and among the top 5% of community colleges nationwide. Intelligent.com named CCM both a Best Community College in the state and Best for Transfer Students, while Best Accredited Colleges also ranks CCM first in New Jersey. Several of the college’s programs — including visual and performing arts, hospitality, criminal justice and radiologic technology — are ranked No. 1 in the state by College Factual, with additional regional and national recognition.

The college has also expanded significantly in recent years. Since 2016, CCM has added more than 200 new credit courses and 27 programs in high-demand fields such as technology, health care, engineering, manufacturing, business and data science. Four new state-of-the-art buildings and major renovations to existing facilities have been completed, strengthening the campus learning environment.

CCM’s nationally recognized partnerships with industry leaders are designed to ensure students can meet workforce needs while providing employers with skilled talent.
