Hunterdon police chiefs to host mock traffic stop program for new drivers, those on autism spectrum

CLINTON, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — The Hunterdon County Chiefs of Police Association will sponsor a mock traffic stop program next month aimed at helping young and inexperienced drivers, as well as those on the autism spectrum, feel more comfortable during interactions with law enforcement.

The program will take place Saturday, Sept. 20, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hunterdon Health & Wellness Center in Clinton, located at 1738 Route 31 North. It is part of Hunterdon Health’s annual Community Day.

Participants will have the chance to experience a traffic stop in a safe and supportive environment with local police officers. Organizers said the program is designed to help drivers understand what to expect during a stop, build confidence behind the wheel, and strengthen positive connections with law enforcement.

The event is free and open to the public. It will be held alongside other family activities, wellness resources, and community programs throughout the day.

Registration is available online at Eventbrite.
