Lopatcong Township police investigating vehicle break-ins, urge residents to check security footage

LOPATCONG TOWNSHIP, NJ (Warren County) – Authorities are investigating a series of vehicle break-ins that occurred overnight from Monday into Tuesday in Lopatcong Township and neighboring municipalities.

Police are asking residents with home security cameras to review any footage for suspicious activity, specifically individuals attempting to open vehicle doors. Anyone with relevant video is asked to forward it to danag@lopatcongtwp.com.

Most of the incidents appear to be crimes of opportunity involving unlocked vehicles or those with valuables left inside. Police are reminding the public to take preventive measures to reduce the risk of theft.

Tips include locking all vehicle doors and windows, removing all valuables or keeping them out of sight, and parking in well-lit areas. Motion-activated lights are also recommended as a strong deterrent for nighttime thefts.
