Man seriously injured after being ejected, struck by his vehicle in Sussex County crash

FRANKFORD TOWNSHIP, NJ (Sussex County) – A Pennsylvania man was seriously injured when he was ejected and then struck by his own vehicle in a Sussex County crash Tuesday morning, according to New Jersey State Police spokesperson Trooper Troy McNair.

The crash happened at around 11:22 a.m. on Route 206 southbound at milepost 11.8 in Frankford Township, McNair said.

A preliminary police investigation revealed that a Ford SUV and a Chrysler passenger vehicle, driven by Raymond Breitenbach, 83, of Lords Valley, were traveling southbound on Route 206 when the Ford was stopped in the lane of travel to make a left turn and was subsequently rear-ended by the Chrysler, McNair said.

As a result of the crash, Breitenbach was ejected during the sequence of the collision and struck by his own vehicle, McNair said.

Breitenbach suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to an area hospital. The driver of the Ford suffered minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital, McNair said.

The crash remains under investigation and no additional information was available, McNair said.
