
Methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia found during traffic stop in Morris County
MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A Hunterdon County man is facing drug charges following a traffic stop in Mount Olive Township on Monday night, according to police.
On Dec. 9, 2024, at 11:55 p.m., an officer was on routine patrol when he observed a Jeep Cherokee traveling on Route 46 with a non-operating brake light and expired inspection. The officer initiated a motor vehicle stop near 354 Route 46 and made contact with the driver, identified as Michael Hillman, 41, of Frenchtown Borough, police said.
While speaking with Hillman, the officer suspected that he might be in possession of a controlled dangerous substance. The Morris County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit was called to assist, and through the investigation and a subsequent search of the vehicle, Hillman was allegedly found to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, police said.
Hillman was arrested and charged with possession of a CDS (Schedule I-IV), possession of paraphernalia, possession of CDS in a motor vehicle, open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, failure to inspect, maintenance of lamps, and failure to exhibit registration and insurance. He was released pending a court appearance, police said.
