
Morris County man arrested for burglary after foot pursuit
FAIRFIELD TOWNSHIP, NJ (Essex County) – A Rockaway man is in custody after police responded to an alleged motor vehicle burglary on Tuesday in Fairfield Township.
Matthew Logan, 29, was charged with burglary, possession of burglar’s tools, and resisting arrest.
Police said on July 2, at around 9:35 p.m., officers responded to an alleged motor vehicle burglary that had occurred at a business on Daniel Road East.
The caller reported seeing the incident occur approximately 30 minutes earlier on their security cameras. A description of the suspect was then provided to officers, police said.
A short time later, an officer located a man matching the description of the suspect in the parking lot of the PNC Bank on Little Falls Road, police said.
As the officer exited his vehicle to speak with him, the male ran from the officer and disobeyed commands to stop. He was apprehended a short time later with the help of other officers, police said.
Logan was transported to police headquarters for processing where he was found to be in possession of a window punch, police said.
Logan was charged and then transported to the Essex County Jail pending a court appearance, police said.
