Morris County man sentenced for endangering the welfare of a child following online chats with 9-year-old boy

HANOVER TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – A Morris County man was sentenced for endangering the welfare of a child after engaging in sexually explicit online chats with a 9-year-old boy who was located in North Carolina at the time of the offenses, according to  according to Morris County Prosecutor Robert Carroll.

On January 8, Brian J. Cariddi, 40, of Hanover Township pled guilty to one count of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, Carroll said.

On April 29, the Honorable Claudia Jones imposed a sentence of 3 years in New Jersey State Prison, with 18 months of parole ineligibility, and Parole Supervision for Life. Upon release, Cariddi will be subject to Megan’s Law and is not to have any contact with the victim, Carroll said.

Between December 11, 2022, and January 10, 2023, Cariddi engaged in sexually explicit conversations with the child victim. Cariddi exposed his intimate parts during online conversations, and asked the child victim to send images of the child’s intimate parts, Carroll said.

As a result of the investigation, Cariddi was arrested and charged on March 8, 2024. He was detained in the Morris County Correctional Facility pending disposition of this case, Carroll said.
