EAST HANOVER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — Scouting America’s Patriots’ Path Council honored two members of the Morris County Sheriff’s Office and several other local citizens during its annual Lifetime Achievement Awards Dinner on Wednesday, June 18.

Among those recognized were Warden Christopher Klein of the Morris County Correctional Facility and Corporal Erica Valvano of the Morris County Sheriff’s Office Community Outreach and Planning Section’s Hope One team. The event, held in East Hanover, celebrated individuals for their community service and embodiment of the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

“This event recognized outstanding citizens for their leadership and dedication to the Morris County community,” said Jack Ambrose, event chair and past Lifetime Achievement Award recipient.

Warden Klein, who began his career with the Morris County Sheriff’s Office in 1999, was honored for his leadership of the correctional facility, where he oversees more than 180 employees across three divisions. He has played a key role in achieving multiple accreditations from the American Correctional Association and has managed critical units including training, policy and procedures, and medical services.

Corporal Valvano, a 21-year veteran of law enforcement, was recognized for her work improving community relations and launching innovative programs, including the award-winning Hope One mobile outreach vehicle. She has helped replicate the program in nine counties across New Jersey and is active in youth mentorship through the Sheriff’s Office Explorer Post.

Sheriff James M. Gannon praised both officers for their dedication and impact.

“Warden Klein and Corporal Valvano are exceptional representatives of the Morris County Sheriff’s Office,” Gannon said. “Chris has a level of professionalism and a demeanor that is perfect for running the best county jail in the state. Erica has impacted so many, and has made a difference in more lives than anyone I know. I am so proud of them and the work they do.”

The Patriots’ Path Council includes Morris, Middlesex, Somerset, and Sussex counties and serves more than 12,000 Scouts supported by over 5,000 adult volunteers.
