New holiday ad reminds players not to gift lottery tickets to minors as part of responsible gambling campaign

NEW JERSEY – The New Jersey Lottery and its partner, the Council on Compulsive Gambling of New Jersey, has released an advertisement to help families recognize that lottery tickets are not the right gifts for minors.

“On behalf of the New Jersey Lottery and our partner, the Council on Compulsive Gambling (CCGNJ) of New Jersey, I’d like to wish you a happy, healthy and lucky holiday season. Lottery tickets make great stocking stuffers. But please gift responsibly and don’t give lottery tickets to children under the age of 18,” New Jersey Lottery Executive Director James A. Carey said in the ad, before playfully adding, “If you do, you’ll get coal!”

The ad will be shown before all New Jersey Lottery drawings. Further, the Lottery and the CCGNJ will continue to advocate for responsible gambling activities, including additional seasonal ads and social promotions throughout 2025.
